Lovely Town In Abruzzo Italy

Ripa Teatina is a communal city of about 4k people lcoated in the Province of Chieti in the Abruzzo Region of Italy. It is located on a hill at an altitude of 200 meters. Nearby are the towns of Fancavilla al Mare and Chieti.

 The principle economic activities of the are include animal grazing,  sheep herding, and agriculture.  Several vineyards and large olive groves are located in the area.

Popular sites in Ripa Teatina include remains of the city’s ancient fortification walls,  the Convent of San Francisco, and the parrish church.   Local events and festivities include the Sagra di Ferragosto (Labor Day Feast) held in mid August and featuring musical productions and the feast of porchetta and the town’s patron saint held in the month of September.   

Ripa Teatina is best known as the home of two world famous boxing champions, Rocky Marciano (born  Rocco Francis Marchegiano) and Rocky (born Rocco) Mattioli.  There is a statue of Rocky Marciano in the town center.
